Dr Bikram Karmakar is a Sport and Exercise Physician, Lifestyle Medicine Fellow, and experienced medical leader working at the intersection of elite sport, musculoskeletal health, and preventative, whole-person care. With a career spanning clinical practice, research, high-performance sport, and non-executive governance, he brings a dynamic and multidisciplinary perspective to the ASLM Board.

Bikram is the Chief Medical Officer of the Cronulla Sharks and a Non-Executive Director with AUSactive, where he contributes to national strategies that advance physical activity, safety, and health promotion. He has extensive experience supporting athletes across all levels, from community sport to professional leagues, and is skilled in the management of musculoskeletal injuries, exercise-related medical conditions, and evidence-based rehabilitation.

Alongside his clinical and leadership roles, Bikram is an Adjunct Associate Lecturer at UNSW, contributing to medical education across sports medicine and psychiatry. He is actively involved in research and international collaboration, presenting and teaching across Asia and beyond.

A Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine, Bikram is passionate about integrating movement, prevention, and holistic wellbeing into mainstream care. His governance training through the Australian Institute of Company Directors further strengthens his commitment to impactful, future-focused health leadership.
